Session One: A blogging strategy

Topics covered include clarifying what we want from our blog, setting goals and guidelines for success, identifying  audiences, making decisions about shaping our online identity, and wrapping these answers into a very basic blogging plan.

Session Two: Choosing a blogging platform and listening to online conversations

In this session we evaluate which blogging tool(s) will meet our needs and then learn how to identify, join and help maintain online conversations. We will use free tools to create a basic online ‘listening post’ to find and track conversations happening online.

We cover how to set up a WordPress.com blog – choosing a theme, configuring some key widgets and enabling ’sharing’ links on our blog. We also look at three key ‘upgrades’ you may want to consider for your WordPress.com blog.
